The client’s goal was for more people interested in dog sports and gear to find their website every day. In order to do this, the website needed a keyword strategy, technical updates, and to be fully optimized on-page. Additionally, all existing content pages about dog sports such as bikejoring, skijoring, and mushing needed more structure and comprehensive information on the subjects. Competitors selling similar products also had stronger backlink profiles and more authority within the niche. The website needed a full SEO strategy implemented in order to become the leader in the dog sports gear niche.
First, we needed to identify how people who are interested in dog sports and dog gear are searching for it. Through our competitive analysis and keyword research we concluded that the website would a new entirely keyword strategy, full on-page optimization of all product and collection pages, and a content strategy to provide potential customers with valuable information about the dog sports and gear.
We also performed a website quality audit and identified technical errors such as 404s, orphan pages, incorrect header tags, missing meta descriptions, missing schema, and other factors we needed to correct.
Following that, we developed a blog content strategy and new blog content to drive traffic, starting with 12 topics. The topics were chosen based on extensive research and had a significant search volume with relatively low competition. The client reviewed our content before publishing it on the website.
Throughout the entire campaign, we performed outreach to blogs and websites within their niche in order to network with industry leaders, acquire backlinks, and increase the brand’s authority and backlink profile.
Within just the first 3 months of the campaign we achieved double-digit growth in website traffic compared to the previous year. We saw a 16.56% increase in Website Traffic and a 20.66% increase in New Users.
The company’s high season is during the winter months when dog sports like skijoring and mushing are most popular. By this time in the campaign, the full strategy including on-page optimization and content production was in full swing. We saw an impressive 123.21% increase in organic traffic during these months compared to the previous year!
