CLIENT OVERVIEW

Wellness company that specializes in producing mushroom-based supplements.

The Challenge

The mushroom-based wellness supplement industry is highly competitive, especially from an SEO perspective. The website started with a solid foundational level of authority and a blog with a few posts that were generating significant traffic each month. However, the website overall needed a proper keyword strategy implemented for all product and collection pages, some technical improvements, and more quality, relevant content. Additionally, the site needed more authority over specific inner target pages and blog posts to improve its rankings.

The Strategy

From our keyword and competitive research we identified that the majority of the monthly search volume available for this brand would come from 2 sources: product-related and information-seeking searches. First, we needed to assign primary and secondary keywords to each product and collection page on the site and optimize all on-page factors to make it clear to Google exactly what each page was about. We also ran a website quality audit to find all technical errors and missing elements and quickly made those improvements.

Next, the content strategy needed to be developed. As mushroom-based supplements is a fairly new and emerging industry, we found 10 of 1000s of monthly searches for questions related to mushroom supplements such as “what are the best mushrooms for energy?”. Each of these keywords presented an opportunity to bring 1000s of visitors per month to the site but, only if our content was high quality and provided the searcher with the best information available online on these topics. That was our goal.

We developed a Pillar and Cluster content model to organized content topics into groups and inter-link them to improve the user’s experience and connect relevant topics. We then provided the client keyword target options to approve and began our content production process. In order to ensure that our content would be the highest quality possible and would have the greatest chance of ranking highly, we performed in-depth research based outlines that covered not only the target keyword and topic, but all related topics. Our SEO writers then produced the content and they were sent to the client for approved before being published on their site.

At the same time, we performed outreach to 1000s of relevant websites and blogs in order to create relationships and increase brand awareness and authority with their niche.

As a Shopify-based website, we also needed to improve site speed so we provided in-depth instructions to the client development team on what factors needed to be improved technically in order to increase site speed.
